WORLD DISABILITY UNION - WDU

The Inaugural General Assembly

Istanbul ,

22nd - 23rd October 2011

World Disability Union is expected to become the single largest organization for the collaboration of local NGOs, Organizations, Institutions, Legal persons of persons with disabilities and individuals with disabilities, and bridging the gap between different challenges and expectations in different countries.

NGOs from developed countries are postulated to benefit from a large scale collaboration due to the opportunities for systematic information exchange, technology trade, demand for new markets for medical and technical products, promotion, qualified and inexpensive services, health and disability tourism, new investment fields, common challenges and social responsibility.

NGOs from developing countries are expected to benefit from a world union due to the opportunity for achieving the ability to better connect their home states with the persons with disabilities, work towards the implementation of disability rights and projects, and integrate with the world

Conference

“Powerful Voice of Women with Disabilities”

17 - 22 October 2011, Skopje

The Conference ”Powerful Voice of Women with Disabilities” brought together 15 women with disabilities from the Balkan region to discuss current situations, exchange experiences, build strategies and network for future cooperation and new visions to empower women with disabilities in this region.

The women with disabilities from different Countries, cultural and ethnic backgrounds have met to learn about their experiences.

The Conference was organized by Macedonian Mobility Challenges

ISTANBUL CONGRESS

The launching of the Istanbul Congress:

The Civil Society Dialogue from the political commitment to the achievement of the dialogue.

In recent years a much greater emphasis has been placed on the vital role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the reform process of candidate and potential candidate countries. While CSOs are key players in promoting a transparent and open participatory democracy, they continue to face numerous obstacles that hinder their development. It is the responsibility of both the national governments as well as of the European institutions to ensure that the role and influence of CSOs is strengthened and rendered as effective as possible.
The aim of this Congress was to examine how the triangle - civil society development, European perspective, and national reforms - can be made to work more effectively. The emphasis was been on comparing experiences from candidate countries in 6 corresponding workshops.

Little People of Kosovo participated actively that is jointly partner in two EU Regional Projects.
